What Inspires Me

I've never designed or created an article of clothing (besides some measly scarves here and there,) but I wake up every morning and get dressed, so isn't that designing and creating? My style is somewhat conservative in the way my clothes are constructed, but the colors I use are always vibrant. I like to layer with sweaters and scarves. I also really like the way tights look with dresses and boots.

I gather most of my inspiration from my favorite magazines. One of my favorite magazines is Nylon. I like it because I can always find fresh ideas and looks. Its what the people are wearing on the streets of New York and lots of places I've never been. My favorite issue ever was when Nylon went to London. They showed the teenagers there and what they were into. Some of the styles are crazy and not something I would ever want to wear around campus, but I take what I can from it and tone it down. Everyone resorts to the color black when they are out of ideas and I am no exception. I love wearing black! Its so slimming to the figure and just sleek.

Styles from the past inspire me more than anything because fashion is constantly being recycled and clothes from the 70s and 80s are just more fun! Also, when I see what my favorite celebrities wearing certain styles like skinny jeans or v-neck shirts, I'm more inspired to wear the same things. Dressing like a celebrity is nearly impossible for me, but just knowing that I'm wearing the same style makes me feel good about myself.
